Coalatree just finished their Kickstarter campaign for the Kachula 2.0 Adventure Blanket, raising over $257,000.
Their goal was to raise $15,000, which they reached in 12 hours. After that, they were features on KSL and ABC 4 Good 4 Utah, and their campaign took off.
“The Miller Business Resource Center and Business Incubator have been key instruments for us here at Coalatree,” said Jacob “Charlie” Bessey, CEO and Co-Founder of Coalatree. “As a small business, it is important for us to not just take any opportunity to grow, but take the RIGHT opportunities. The MBRC has helped us to take a step back from the wholesale retail model that was disrupting our cash flow model, and really restructure our game plan, while reducing overhead.”
The Kachula 2.0 Adventure Blanket is a waterproof, tough, packable blanket for everyday use from the city to the mountain. It has a stash pocket for your wallet and keys, a detachable hood so you can wear it as a poncho, and is plenty big enough to actually use as a blanket if the weather gets cold or wet.
“Charlie and his team have been great additions and contributors to our Business Incubator,” said Beth Colosimo, Executive Director. “They truly understand what it means to run a lean start up and are making the most of their time in the incubator to learn and grow at the right pace on their terms. It’s been exciting to watch them grow and have success.”
Coalatree is now looking to the future, launching the Kachula 2.0 into full Retail Nov. 1st. They will also be working on a few up and coming
products for to release on Kickstarter Spring 2017.
