Stan Rees Retires from Global Business Center

Stan Rees has worked in international business for more than 42 years, including 12 at Salt Lake Community College creating and overseeing the Global Business Center. He has made a big impact in the global trade community and has impacted many businesses that he has served and now feels it’s time to retire.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 1969 and later his Masters degree in international business management from Thunderbird in Arizona in 1976, Stan joined the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center.
Stan worked 30 years mostly in Salt Lake City with a couple of years in the Honolulu office providing export assistance, and counseling to U.S. companies. He served as Trade Specialist for 21 years then as Director for 9 years. During this time Stan served on the board of directors and as President of the World Trade Association of Utah. In 1993 was chosen as International Person of the Year by the World Trade Association of Utah.
After retiring from the Department of Commerce in 2006, he joined Salt Lake Community College to form the Global Business Center and developed the Executive Certificate of Global Business Management course offering international business training to business professionals and persons wishing to increase their knowledge of global business practices. The Center also offers global business training through workshops, seminars, and international business briefings. In 2016, Stan Rees was awarded the E Award for Excellence in Export Expansion Programming from Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker.
